Engage Dance Academy, based in Crystal Lake, IL, is a family-oriented dance studio offering dance classes for dancers ages 18 months through adult. Our recreational, competitive, and advanced programs provide opportunities for every dancer — from beginners taking their first class to experienced performers pursuing advanced training.
Our Open Division offers recreational dance classes for students of all ages and levels, including ballet, jazz, lyrical, hip hop, and more. For dancers looking for additional performance and training opportunities, our Comp Crew and Engage Dance Theatre programs provide advanced experiences through audition and invitation-based placement.

Explore our dance programs
Open Division is the recreational dance program at Engage Dance Academy, offering dance classes for children, teens, and adults ages 18 months and up. Our program includes ballet, jazz, lyrical, hip hop, and other styles designed for beginner, intermediate, and advanced dancers. With a variety of class times available, students can enjoy quality dance training once or twice a week while building confidence, technique, and a love for dance.
Our Comp Crew program is an opportunity for dancers ages 9-18 to work together with professional-caliber choreographers to develop and compete in a wide variety of genres, including ballet, hip hop, jazz, contemporary, musical theatre, tap, and lyrical styles. Comp Crews compete at various competitions and conventions each year in the Chicagoland area. Auditions are held in the spring.
This advanced, invitation only program has a strong focus on the classical technique of Ballet along with Jazz, Contemporary, and Pointe, Pas De Deux classes with gentlemen from the Milwaukee Ballet, conditioning classes, and classes in PBT (Progressing Ballet Technique). Creating a strong and well-versed dancer, graduates of this program have gone on to train at San Francisco Ballet, Milwaukee Ballet Academy, and top colleges across the country.
